Womens Health Issues - Begin With Your Mental Attitude

Many womens health issues are specific to women over 40. On this page and in following articles I will inform you about risks and remedies, and what you can do to prevent serious diseases. The number one killer of American women over 40 is cardiovascular disease which includes heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure. Next are lung cancer and breast cancer. Are these women in denial or believe it can’t happen to them? Have they perhaps never watched a loved one slowly deteriorate and die? Are they so stressed out in their lives that their health is not a high priority? Is it just lack of information about womens health issues? Are they afraid to seek medical attention for signs and symptoms? Is it because they don’t have medical insurance? Are they suffering from the “martyr syndrome”, where everyone else’s needs trump their own? One last question: do these women not care if they die prematurely? I don’t believe this. Why? Because when the chips are down and a person is at death’s door, everyone wants to live, at least a little longer. A sudden death is preferable to a long, slow, lingering death. Let me discuss some womens health issues and share some of the experiences I’ve had with some of these women over 40. Sharla had a stroke at age 40, entire left side of her body was paralyzed. She survived but is crippled, has financial problems, a child to support, family cannot provide much assistance and permanently disabled.
Dee had high blood pressure diagnosed at age 30, was treated with medications and given the standard medical advice of diet, exercise, minimize stress, and weight control. By age 57 she had her 3rd heart attack and died, leaving many grieving family members who didn’t understand how it happened. Well, she was a smoker, gained 50 pounds, stopped taking her medications as ordered and did not exercise. Sarah died at age 55, succumbing to lung cancer, caused by smoking. She ignored the hacking cough until one day she coughed up a large amount of bright red blood. Josie died from breast cancer at age 46. All of these women were my patients; I spent much time with them. Why did this happen to them? Because 50% of women in this country are afraid to get an annual mammogram. Yes, it hurts but only for about 15 seconds. Sharla said her stroke was caused by extreme stress. As a last ditch effort to survive, Josie sought treatment from a naturopath to save her life from the ravages of breast cancer. Another stroke victim survived 10 years after the first attack and died in the fetal position with contractures (permanent muscle contractions). A final word on womens health issues (at least for now)... For those of you who want to live a longer life, you must begin with your mindset or mental attitude. Consider the consequences of a self-destructive path. We all have the innate right to make our own choices. No one can force you to treat your body like a temple. However, there are a multitude of people in this world who will never stop trying to help you. Read my other articles on womens health issues:
