Searching for A Stress Management Technique?

Take some quiet time in the park or at home

Let's find a stress management technique that works. We, women over 40, all need one every now and then!

There are those days where the sun shines and everyone is happy and joyful. But then, there are those other days. You know the ones. The ones where everyone is out to get you, the kids are driving you insane, your boss calls you into his office making you feel inferior, and the world is not your friend.

Those days are enough to make you want to run away. But you can handle those days; just find ways to better cope with those stress filled days.

Quiet Time

One way to deal with a negative stressful situation is find some quiet time. Generally, this stress management technique involves no outside noise and influence for a bit of time. This may seem almost impossible in today’s world of loud and fast but finding this time can be important for our health.

Even scheduling fifteen minutes each day for solitude and quiet time can help us slow down and eliminate some stress from our lives.

Meditation

Most forms of meditation involve special breathing and concentration of clearing the mind of unwanted unnecessary junk and thoughts. There is also a form of meditation that involves walking, called walking meditation. This form of meditation involves walking quietly and concentrating on the feet and moving slowly forward.

Many people will sit down with legs crossed and will begin meditation by breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. Once the body is starting to calm from the breathing, she will close her eyes and try to think of nothing, just concentrate of the breathing.

Reflect and Journal

Another great stress management technique is to reflect the day or days and write down thoughts in a journal. Keeping a journal doesn’t necessarily mean writing everyday. It also doesn’t have to be an expensive journal either. A simple notebook or computer word processor is fine.

Reflect the day’s worries into the journal. This not only gets it off your chest and helps reduce the stress but it also may help you see the cause of the stress later on. This can help you determine a plan of action to reducing stress caused by the same situation should it occur again in the future.

One Day at a Time

The last stress management technique I discuss here. Stress can be important in deadlines and communication. It can lead to furthering of a career. It is important to have positive stress in your life to keep you motivated. Take one day at a time to reduce the negative impacts of stress.
